Get Started With Print Screen Deluxe

Set up Print Screen Deluxe, learn the first capture steps, and understand the main parts of the app.

This page helps you take your first capture, make a quick change, and save the result.

First-Time Setup

  1. Open Print Screen Deluxe.
  2. In the left setup panel, click What am I capturing?.
  3. Pick FullScreen for your first test.
  4. Leave Enable Get Text and Capture video off for now.
  5. Click OK.

Choose How To Start A Capture

  1. Click How do I capture it?.
  2. Check the current hotkey.
  3. The default hotkey is PrintScreen.
  4. If you want a different hotkey, choose a new key and any modifier keys.
  5. Click OK.

Choose What Happens After Capture

  1. Click Where will it go?.
  2. If you want the capture to open in the app, leave the checkboxes off.
  3. Turn on Copy to clipboard if you want to paste the result into email, chat, or a document.
  4. Turn on Auto-save if you want the app to save each capture to a folder.
  5. Turn on Auto-print if you want the app to send each capture to a printer.
  6. Click OK.

Check A Few Helpful Options

  1. Click Options.
  2. Open the Capture tab.
  3. Turn on Include mouse cursor if you want the pointer in the picture.
  4. Turn on Show Quick Capture Button if you want the floating capture button.
  5. Turn on Use Time Delay if you need a short pause before capture starts.
  6. Click OK.

Take Your First Capture

  1. Press PrintScreen.
  2. If the Quick Capture button is visible, you can click it instead.
  3. For FullScreen, the app captures the screen right away.
  4. The result opens in a new tab in the main window.

If You Pick Another Capture Type

  • ActiveWindow captures the window that is active right now.
  • WindowClick lets you click the window you want.
  • Rectangle, RoundRectangle, Ellipse, Triangle, Polygon, and Freehand let you mark the area you want.
  • Menu helps you capture a menu that is open on the screen.
  • Clipboard creates a new item from the picture already stored in the clipboard.
  • AutoScroll is for long pages, long documents, and other content that does not fit on one screen.

Make A Quick Edit

  1. Select the new image tab.
  2. Open the Edit Image tab.
  3. Try one of these simple tools:
  • Click Crop to keep only the part you want.
  • Click Highlight to draw attention to an area.
  • Click Arrow to point to something important.
  • Click Text to place a note on the image.
  • Use Undo if you want to step back.

Save, Copy, Or Print

  1. Open the File tab.
  2. Click Save if the image already has a file path.
  3. Click Save As if you want to choose the name or folder.
  4. Click Copy if you want to paste the image somewhere else.
  5. Click Print if you want a print preview first.

Common First Setups

Capture Only The Active Window

  1. Click What am I capturing?.
  2. Change Capture to ActiveWindow.
  3. Click OK.
  4. Press the hotkey while the window you want is active.

Save Every Capture Automatically

  1. Click Where will it go?.
  2. Turn on Auto-save.
  3. Choose the folder, format, and naming style.
  4. Click OK.

Turn On Logging

  1. Click What am I capturing?.
  2. Turn on Enable logging.
  3. Click OK.

Logging helps when you need to troubleshoot a problem later.

If Something Does Not Look Right

  • If the screen area is hard to see while you select it, change Selection overlay darkness (%) in Options > Capture.
  • If the app does not paint well on your PC, try Use software rendering compatibility mode in Options > General and restart the app.
  • If MP4 video is not available, use AVI or install the Windows Media Feature Pack on Windows N systems.
