Secure macros help protect sensitive macro contents.
What Secure Macros Do
- hide the trigger in the main list when secure viewing is off
- require password handling before edit, delete, or schedule actions
- keep protected macros separate from everyday macros
Set the Password First
- Open
File > Preferences. - Open the
Programtab. - Enter the new password twice.
- If you are changing an existing password, type the old password too.
Current builds store that password in encrypted form.
Make a Macro Secure
When you create or edit a macro, the description page has a checkbox named Make this a Secure macro.
Turn that on for any macro that should stay protected.
View Secure Macros
Use Options > View Secure Macros when you need to reveal secure items.
What Happens
- if you already have a password, EZ Macros prompts for it
- if you do not have a password yet, EZ Macros warns you and lets you choose whether to continue
- once secure view is on, secure triggers are visible and the password gate stays open for the rest of the session
Use the same menu command again to hide secure macros.
When the Password Prompt Appears
You can be prompted when you try to:
- edit a secure macro
- delete a secure macro
- schedule a secure macro
Best Practices
- set the password before you build password-related macros
- keep secure-macro descriptions clear, since the trigger may be hidden later
- turn secure view back off when you are done
