Create Macros

Overview of the create-macro wizard and the four macro types.

EZ Macros uses a wizard-style flow for new macros.

Wizard Flow

  1. Choose the macro type.
  2. Choose the trigger.
  3. Fill in the type-specific page.
  4. Add a description.
  5. Optional: mark the macro as secure.

The Four Macro Types

Launch a List of Programs

Use this when one hot key should open one or more programs, documents, or command lines.

Remember Mouse and Keyboard Events

Use this when you want EZ Macros to record what you do and play it back later.

Activate a Program and Send It Keystrokes and Mouse Events

Use this when the macro must switch to a window, or launch one, before it continues.

Use this when one trigger should show a small list of other macros.

Choose the Trigger Early

Every macro type still needs a trigger.

  • Type-A-Macro
  • Wait for a Window

Add a Description You Will Remember

The description is what you see in the macro list and in several picker dialogs. Keep it short and clear.

Optional: Make the Macro Secure

The description page also lets you check Make this a Secure macro.

Default Macro Type

If you create the same kind of macro often, open File > Preferences > Macro Type and set the type you want EZ Macros to preselect.
