Common Tasks

Jump straight to the most common user tasks.

Create a Hot Key That Opens Programs

  1. Click Add.
  2. Choose Launch a list of programs.
  3. Choose Press a Hot Key.
  4. Pick the hot key.
  5. Add one or more programs.

Record a Repeating Task

  1. Click Add.
  2. Choose Remember mouse and keyboard events.
  3. Choose a trigger.
  4. Click Record.
  5. Do the task.
  6. Press Pause to stop.

Create Text Expansion

  1. Click Add.
  2. Choose Remember mouse and keyboard events.
  3. Choose Use Type-A-Macro.
  4. Enter a short key sequence.
  5. Use Create/Edit to add the text you want typed.

Run a Macro When a Window Appears

  1. Click Add.
  2. Choose the macro type you want.
  3. Choose Wait for a certain window to appear.
  4. Type part or all of the window title.

Protect a Macro

  1. Open File > Preferences.
  2. Open the Program tab.
  3. Set a password.
  4. Create or edit a macro.
  5. In the description page, check Make this a Secure macro.

Schedule a Macro

  1. Select a macro in the main window.
  2. Click Schedule.
  3. Choose whether to add, edit, or delete the schedule.

Import Older Macro Files

  1. Open File > Import.
  2. Pick an .ezm or .dat file.
  3. If EZ Macros tells you a hot key is not available, choose a new one.

Build a Popup Menu of Macros

  1. Click Add.
  2. Choose Display a menu of macros to run.
  3. Choose a trigger.
  4. Move macros into the menu list.
  5. Name the menu items.
  6. Test the menu.

Create a Shortcut That Runs One Macro

  1. Select a macro.
  2. Open Macro > Create Desktop Shortcut.
  3. Use the new shortcut from the desktop.
