EZ Macros User Manual

Preferences

Reference for the Macro Type, Recording, Program, and Colors tabs.

Open File > Preferences to change EZ Macros defaults.

The Preferences window has four tabs.

Macro Type Tab

Use this tab to choose the macro type that EZ Macros should preselect when you click Add.

Choices are:

  • Launch a list of programs
  • Remember mouse and keyboard events
  • Activate a program and send it keystrokes and mouse events
  • Display a menu of macros to run

Recording Tab

Use this tab for recording and playback defaults.

Options include:

  • Record keyboard events
  • Record mouse events
  • Show Playback Progress
  • playback speed slider
  • Recorded Speed
  • repeat count
  • repeat forever
  • repeat for a fixed time
  • progress-window position

If you choose time-based repeat, you must enter a real hour, minute, or second value.

Program Tab

This tab mixes security, hot keys, and email settings.

Secure Section

  • new password
  • type it again
  • old password confirmation when changing an existing password

Hot Keys Section

  • tray activation hot key
  • enable or disable all macros hot key
  • stop macro playback and recording hot key

The default stop key is Pause.

Email Server Section

  • incoming server
  • incoming SSL
  • incoming port
  • outgoing server
  • outgoing SSL
  • outgoing port
  • user ID
  • password

If you leave the incoming email server blank, EZ Macros warns you that email macros need that setting.

Colors Tab

Use this tab to change how the editor looks.

Buttons and checkboxes cover:

  • special keys
  • events
  • comments
  • text
  • background
  • bold settings for those categories
  • reset

Apply Rules

EZ Macros validates some settings before it accepts them.

  • passwords must match
  • old password must be correct when you change an existing password
  • a repeat-by-time setting must include a time value
  • hot keys must still be valid and available
