Recorded Macros

Record keyboard and mouse steps and play them back.

Recorded macros are the best choice when you want EZ Macros to capture steps and play them back later.

Record Page Controls

  • Record: starts recording
  • Clear: clears the current recorded steps
  • Create/Edit: opens the editor so you can type or change steps by hand
  • Record keyboard events: include keyboard input
  • Record mouse events: include mouse input
  • Playback Speed: slider for fast or slow playback
  • Recorded Speed: use the timing that was captured during recording

How to Record

  1. Create a new macro.
  2. Choose Remember mouse and keyboard events.
  3. Choose a trigger.
  4. Turn keyboard and mouse recording on or off.
  5. Click Record.
  6. Do the task.
  7. Press Pause to stop recording.

Playback Options

You can control playback in two places:

  • on the record page for the current macro
  • in File > Preferences > Recording for default behavior

Repeat Options

EZ Macros supports three repeat styles.

  • repeat a set number of times
  • repeat forever until you stop it
  • repeat for a fixed amount of time

If you choose time-based repeat, you must enter a real time value before the settings can be applied.

Progress Window

The recording defaults also let you:

  • show playback progress
  • choose where the progress window appears

The progress window can show:

  • percent complete
  • repeat status
  • mouse location

Stop Key

The default stop key is Pause. You can change it in File > Preferences > Program.

When to Switch to the Editor

Use Create/Edit when:

  • you want to insert comments
  • you want to add delays or pause points
  • you want to insert dates, sounds, file actions, or other advanced commands
  • you want to clean up a recording by hand
